PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Note: Exclude field technicians, engineers and personnel primarily involved in installation, maintenance, modification and repair of equipment.

Responsible for designing, defining, and implementing system requirements for complex customer systems and/or preparing studies and analyzing existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions.

LEVELING REQUIREMENTS

Entry Level: Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Requires a BS degree or equivalent experience in the design of computer system networks, including hardware/software integration.

Intermediate Level: Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Requires a BS degree or equivalent experience in the design of computer system networks, including hardware/software integration.

Senior Level: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Requires a BS degree or equivalent experience in the design of computer system networks, including hardware/software integration.

Staff Level: Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Requires a BS degree or equivalent experience in the design of computer system networks, including hardware/software integration.

Senior Staff Level: Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variance factors. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Requires a BS degree or equivalent experience in the design of computer system networks, including hardware/software integration.

Principal Level: Works on complex problems that impact the design success of current products or addresses broad design issues of future products or technologies. This level lies below "Fellow", but works on some of the same types of projects. Incumbents matched here are typically well-known within their industry, if not internationally recognized. Significant barriers-to-entry (i.e., top management review approval) exist at this level. However, incumbents designated as "Fellow" within the organization should not be matched here. Requires a BS degree or equivalent experience.
