PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for providing the planning, analysis, recommendations and, at senior levels, work guidance or direction in support of the design, and installation of switching equipment used to interconnect circuits to form a communications path between switches, PBX’s, and other peripheral devices.

 

LEVELING REQUIREMENTS

Entry Level: Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Intermediate Level: Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Senior Level: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Staff Level: Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Senior Staff Level: Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of intangible variance factors. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Principal Level: Works on complex problems that impact the design success of current products or addresses broad design issues of future products or technologies. This level lies below "Fellow," but works on some of the same types of projects. Incumbents matched here are typically well known within their industry, if not internationally recognized. Significant barriers-to-entry (i.e., top management review approval) exist at this level. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
