JOB TITLE:      Information Systems Architect     SUBFUNCTIONAL:     Information Technology/MIS

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Survey Tip: Job focus is on supporting internal company programs and operations. Use this job family if company does not identify their information systems jobs by functional designations, such as Programmer/Analyst (6451-6456), Systems Programmer (6441-6446), Business Systems Analyst (6461-6466), Network Engineer (6471-6476) and Telecommunications Engineer (6431-6436).

 

Information Systems Architect (Level 6): Able to code programs of high complexity; derive logical processes on technical platforms; engage in performance/integration testing, business and technical analysis, data modeling; and build screens, windows and reports of high complexity. Designs user system interfaces and business application prototypes. 

Note: May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, Web-enabled solutions.

LEVELING REQUIREMENTS:

 

Level 6:

·          KNOWLEDGE:  As an expert in the field, uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters.  Significant barriers to entry (i.e., top management review approval) exist at this level.       

·          JOB COMPLEXITY:  Works on issues that impact design/selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies.  Often serves as consultant to management and external spokesperson for the organization.

·          SUPERVISION:  Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.  

·          EXPERIENCE:  Typically requires a minimum of 15+ years of related experience.  In some companies, the requirement will be less.  At this level, a graduate degree may be expected.
