PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for performing inspection of purchased parts, materials, components, and equipment. Determines or assists in determining methods, sequences, and procedures necessary for inspection. Works from drawings, sketches, and specifications. Adapts inspection measuring devices and procedures where necessary.

 

LEVELING REQUIREMENTS

Entry Level: Works on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Requires basic reading, writing, addition and subtraction skills. An understanding of basic inspection techniques and the ability to interpret and utilize blueprints, military specifications and engineering drawings is preferred.

Intermediate Level: Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments. Requires inspection experience, an understanding of basic inspection techniques, reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills, and the ability to interpret and utilize blueprints, military specifications and engineering drawings. Completion of high school, vocational training, or equivalent is preferred.

Senior Level: Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Requires inspection experience, an understanding of inspection techniques, reading, writing and intermediate mathematical skills, and the ability to use specialized equipment, read difficult instructions, maintain written records, interpret and utilize blueprints, military specifications and engineering drawings. Completion of high school, vocational training, or equivalent is preferred.

Highly Skilled Level: Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel. Requires inspection experience, a thorough knowledge of inspection techniques, reading, writing and advanced mathematical skills, and the ability to use complex equipment, maintain written records, interpret and utilize blueprints, military specifications and engineering drawings. Completion of high school, vocational training, or equivalent is preferred.
