PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for performing the administrative tasks involved in internal traffic control. Maintains logs for shipments and files packaging slips. Prepares and processes shipping and storage paperwork and documentation. Coordinates the off-site, temporary storage of certain shipments. Prepares freight package quotes and updates vendor audit information. Expedites critical shipments as required. Interfaces with vendors to ensure timely shipment to the customer. Provides general information to personnel regarding company procedures.

 

LEVELING REQUIREMENTS

Entry Level: Works on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Requires basic reading, writing, addition and subtraction skills.

Intermediate Level: Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments. Requires experience in a shipping or traffic environment and reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills. Completion of high school, vocational training, or equivalent is preferred.

 

Senior Level: Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Requires experience in a shipping or traffic environment and reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills. Completion of high school, vocational training, or equivalent is preferred.

Highly Skilled Level: Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel. Requires experience in a shipping or traffic environment and reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills. Completion of high school, vocational training, or equivalent is preferred.
